Graveside services for William "Bill" Frederick Burney Jr., 80, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, in Magnolia Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Bob Cline officiating, directed by Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home. Memorial may be made to the First Baptist Church.

Mr. Burney died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001. Born in Bennettsville, he was a son of the late William Frederick and Lavoto Burney Sr. He was involved in two invasions during World War II and was retired from the U.S. Navy. He was previously employed with Southern Office Supply.

Surviving are his wife, Eleanor Ruth Ousley Burney of Hartsville.
