Fourth of his name and the fourth generation to graduate from the United States Military Academy (January 1943). Served in World War II with the 8th Armored Division in the European Theatre of Operation. Commanded the 2nd Squadron, 10th Cavalry in Korea. Recipient of the Legion of Merit (three times), Bronze Star, two Army Commendation Medals, the Belgian Order of Leopold and the Belgian Croix de Guerre.
