Al was born September 6, 1923 in California, MO to Alvin Milton Butcher, Sr. and Margaret Salina (Brady). They later moved to Independence where he graduated from William Chrisman High School. It was there he met his sweetheart Esther Bernice Kramer. They married February 21, 1942 and together raised two children, Janis and Mark. Al proudly served in the Air Force during World War II in the 96th Transport Squadron in the India-Burma Theatre. He worked at the Kohler Co., Owens Electric, and Pincor; later, starting his own business, Factory Sales Inc. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #76, Ararat Temple, and the Shriners of KCMO, and he participated in the American Legion and VFW. He is remembered by family as giving, caring, and helpful.
