Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Wednesday, June 6, 1956, page 2:
  Mrs. Florence Benedict Springer, 147 North Kansas street, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday at her home after a ten weeks' illness. She was born Jan. 31, 1862 in Edwardsville, a daughter of the late Charles L. and Julia Lusk Benedict and had reached the age of 94 years, 4 months, 5 days.
  The deceased spent most of her lifetime in Edwardsville except for several years when she resided at Charleston and Springfield, Ill.
  Mrs. Springer had been a member of St. John's Methodist church of this city since 1885, was a member of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of that church, was a member of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union, the Land of Goshen and Madison County Historical societies.
  She was married to Thomas W. Springer June 26, 1888 at St. John's Methodist church. He preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1931.
  Survivors include four daughters, Miss Jessie Springer of Edwardsville, Mrs. Leslie K. (Mary) Jackson of Grand Tower, Ill., Mrs. Emil Albert (Florence) Volk of Hasbrouck Heights, N.J., and Mrs. Carolyn Dalton of Springfield, Ill.; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. One brother, Charles A.R. Benedict and one sister, Miss Jessie M. Springer preceded her in death in 1943.
  Friends may call at the Lesley Marks funeral home after 12 noon Thursday until 10:30 a.m. Friday when services will be held at the funeral home. The Rev. Clyde Funkhouser, pastor of St. John's Methodist church, will officiate.
  Interment will be in the Woodlawn cemetery.

Pallbearers were Albert Tuxhorn, J. King Eaton, Willard Flagg, Henry Wiedey, Frederic Springer and Robert Wayne.
