Henry was a son of Enos L. Nuzum and Sarah Tatterson.

Henry was raised on the family farm at Nuzum's Mills (now Hammond), Marion Co., West Virginia where he was enumerated as a farmhand in the 1870 US Census.

He married Mary Lois BAZE on 7 March 1872 in Kanawha Co., West Virginia.

U.S. Census records show that Henry and Mary resided in Marion Co., West Virginia until at least 1920.

Their children (all born in W. Virginia); surname Nuzum:

1. Jettie Dell, was born in Apr. 1884; died in 1970.
2. Helen Jane, was born in Apr. 1886; died in 1936.
3. Joseph Brant, was born on 21 April 1889 in Metz Co.
4. Rosy, was born in Apr. 1891; resided at home in 1900.
5. Minnie, born on October 1895; resided at home in 1900.
