Thomas M Lankford was born circa 1797 in VA and died circa 1879 in Henry County. Thomas may have been White or Part Cherokee. Thomas married Laoise "Lacy" Martin, a Cherokee on 14 Jun 1821 at Wilson Co TN. Lacy was born 1803 in Virginia and died circa 1890 in Henry County, TN. A 1848 tintype photo passed down to Anna Ruhama "Overcast" Jimerson, ggrand daughter of Thomas and Lacy shows Lacy with her three youngest children, William, Fannie M, Thomas M and teen daughter Louiza Virginia. Lacy is holding blond hair toddler William. In order for a child to have any degree of blond hair, each parent supplies a recessive gene for blonde hair. Although Laoise was thought to be "Full" Cherokee certainly there was non-Cherokee in her direct ancestry line.
Thomas M Lankford and Lacy Martin had six daughters and two sons, listed eldest to youngest:
Mary Elizabeth married William Terry Bennett. They had five sons and five daughters.
Nancy Angeline married Robert Eastwood. They had five sons and four daughters.
Louiza Virginia married the twice widowed George "Boss" Arnn. They had one son and three daughters and Louiza raised the two sons of George and Charlotte, George's second wife.
Loise Sarah married Thomas E Bradshaw. Sarah died childless a few years after her marriage.
Martha Jane married the widowed Benjamin Franklin Swor. They had one son. Martha raised Ben's three daughters all under age six when they married.
Fannie Maholy married Alexander M Morris. They had one daughter.
Information is lacking on the youngest two children and will be added as documentation is found on sons Thomas M was born circa 1841 and William G was born circa 1846. They were born in either Henry or Wilson County TN.
Information is based on recorded information from Anna Ruhama Overcast. my grandmother, and extensive researched documentation. Additional information will added as documentation found. To read an in-depth biography of Lacy and her children see my addition with the purple Iris at this site.
