Leon R. Albee was born the 2nd of 5 sons on 29 August, 1944, in Freeman, Steuben County, New York. In 1896 his parents moved to Midland, Michigan, following the path of his uncle. Although Leon Albee called Midland his home, in 1910 he moved to Sandpoint, Idaho to work in the lumber mills. While living in Sandpoint, Leon met Hannah Fidelia Spencer of Iowa. "Delia" Spencer was a journalist whose father worked for the railroad, thus she had a family pass to travel from anywhere to anywhere in the United States. Leon and Delia Albee married August 28, 1910 in Dover, Idaho. Leon Albee worked for Dow Chemical Co. in Midland, Michigan, until his death from Leukemia in 1944. Delia Spencer Albee died of breast cancer, at home, December 19, 1933. Leon later remarried, Esther Petersen, who also preceded him in death in 1941. One unusual event in the life of Leon Albee occurred in 1908. While hunting for rabbits on New Year's Day, Leon's younger brother Willis Albee accidentally discharged his shotgun, striking his first-cousin Ross Albee in the leg. Ross Albee died that evening, at home, of his wounds. According to my Uncle Bud, Leon Albee's birth name was Leon ROBERT Albee, however, after the tragic death of his beloved cousin, Leon Albee went by the name Leon ROSS Albee for the rest of his life.

Son of Franklin Gilbert Albee and Malissa "Lizzie" Aldrich
Husband of Delia Spencer
Father of Ellwyn, Gilbert, Eleanor and Clare Burton Albee
Grandson of Stephen Taft Albee and Sally Ann Coon
Grandson of Mijamin Taft Aldrich (who died in 1863 serving with the 141st NY Infantry) and Martha Dunham
Great Grand-Nephew of Truman Aldrich, who also served with the 141st New York Infantry (1864-1865)
