William E. Byrd, 86, of Stanley died Wednesday at Page Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Byrd, a retired government printer, had been in failing health several years. He had served as a justice of the peace at Shenandoah six years.
Mr. Byrd born July 20,1890 in Indiana and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Virgil 0. Byrd.
On April 24,1943 he married the former Gladys M. Breeden, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Harry E. Byrd of Shenandoah; four daughters, Mrs. Fern Mae Hollingsworth and Mrs. Rueletta Roberts, both of Washington, D.C., Miss Gwinne Byrd of Stanley and Mrs. Debbie McCoy of Elkton; four grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at the Warren G. Kyger Funeral Home in Shenandoah by the Rev. Hudson P. Knuckles. Burial will be at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 7—8 p.m. Friday and at the Byrd home in Stanley.
