Born in Crisfield on Nov. 29, 1930, she was the daughter of Dorothy Carey Thomas of Crisfield and the late John Bradley Thomas, who died in 1947.
She was a homemaker and attended the Evangelical Christian Church in Crisfield. She will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by one son, Donald J. "Donnie" Chelton of Crisfield; three daughters, Billie Jean Evans and her husband, David, of Marion Station, Carol Tyler and her husband, Otis Ray, of Ewell, Smith Island, and Cathy Gunter of Marion Station; three brothers, Herman Thomas, Robert Thomas and Tim Thomas, all of Crisfield; three sisters, Betty Jane Chamblee of Reedville, Va., Glenda Poole and Brenda Evans, both of Crisfield; five grandchildren, Kelly Leigh Ann Crockett, Robbie Gunter Jr., Lindsey Gunter and Davey Evans, all of Marion Station, and Brooke tyler of Ewell, Smith Island; one aunt, Marguerite Phillips of Crisfield; cousins and special friends, Janet Riggin and Linda Sterling, both of Crisfield, and Charles Thomas and his wife Anne Lee of Deltaville, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by three brothers, John B. thomas, Ronald Lee Thomas and Gene R. Thomas.
A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Christian Curch in Crisfield. The Revs. Dan Taylor, Stan Lenard and Tom Blakelock will officiate. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services. Interment will take place in Sunnyridge Memorial Park near Crisfield.
