Sometime about 1920 she took in her sister's daughter Sophie when her sister passed away just weeks after giving birth to Sophie.
In 1923 she married Peter Black in Sifton, Manitoba and they had 8 children.
Several years after Peter's passing, Mary moved to Winnipeg about 1948.
She passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg at the age of 84.
