Mary Jane Davis is the daughter of John Davis and Nancy Ann Pratt Davis. Based on the census records it is likely Mary Jane was born in Giles Co. John died when she was about 15 years of age and they moved to Maury Co after Nancy married Sam Morrow Dec 1856 then they moved to Wayne Co after the death of Sam in 1868.

Mary Jane is the mother of 3 children. Jocie Davis, Alice Lee Davis Carter and Martin L. Davis, known to most as just Pud Davis.

Mary Jane raised her family on 48 Creek in Wayne Co.Tenn where she owned 200+ acres of land at the time of her death. she died at age 77 years 10 months and 26 days according to her death certificate. She was sitting in a rocker on her front porch when she coughed and slumped over. according to my mom, her granddaughter, by the time her son got to her she had passed on. based on the information from her death certificate she was buried the following day. Mary Jane is my great grandmother and I welcome any proven information related to her.
