Harry Franz Freidrich Rappe, 89 of Austin, died at Austin Medical Center Friday morning, July 26, 2002.

He was born Feb. 17, 1913 to Phillip and Marie (Horstman) Rappe in Wykoff, Minnesota.
After attending Austin schools, Harry worked Hormel Foods. He married Loretta Naatz on April 21, 1934 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waltham.
A charter member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, some of his volunteer work included treasurer and serving on the church council. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and watching movies. After 42 years at Hormel, he retired in 1974 and moved to St. Marks Lutheran Home in January 2002.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta of Austin; daughter, Janet (James) Conner of Hutchinson; son, William (Alice) Rappe of Clear Lake, Iowa; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren, sister, Mariel Faber of Austin and a niece.
Brothers, Harold and Irvin Rappe and sister, Gertrude Wyant, preceded him in death.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. July 29 at the funeral home and at the church Tuesday one hour before the service.
Service: 11 a.m., Tuesday July 30 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with The Rev. Robert Stohlmann officiating.
Internment: Oakwood Cemetery
