Loretta Esther Rappe, 93, of Austin, died Saturday evening, Aug. 6, 2005, at St Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin.

She was born Aug. 16, 1911, near Waltham, Minn., the daughter of Emil and Mathilda (Koehn) Naatz. She was baptized Sept. 24, 1911, and confirmed May 24, 1924, at Trinity Lutheran Church near Waltham. She attended the Trinity Lutheran Church Day School. After completing her education, Loretta worked as a waitress at the Fox Hotel and later in the dietary department of Burr Oak Nursing Home.
On April 21, 1934, she was united in marriage to Harry Franz Freidrich Rappe at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waltham.
She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid, where she served as its first president. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and volunteering.
The couple entered St. Mark's Lutheran Home in January 2002 and Harry died July 26, 2002.

Survivors include a daughter, Janet (James) Conner, Hutchinson, Minn.; a son, William (Alice) Rappe, Clear Lake, Iowa; three grandchildren: Kandi Rappe, Heather Camacho and Kris Given; a step grandson, Kent Hanson; three great-grandchildren: Mark Given, Morgan Mulford and Samantha Camacho; two step great-grandchildren: Casey Hanson and Shelby Hanson; a sister, Florence Naatz, Austin, Minn.; special niece, Carol McAlister, Austin, Minn.; and many other relatives and friends.
Her parents; husband, Harry F. Rappe; great grandson, Mitchell Given; five brothers: Harry, Raymond, George, Reuben and Emil, Jr. and one sister, Evelyn Vacura, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Austin with the Rev. Daniel M. Provost officiating. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. today at Worlein Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church Wednesday. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
Casket Bearers are Jack Akkerman, Eric McAlister, Ryan McAlister, Aron McAlister, Harold Naatz, Charles Rappe, David Tucker and Wally Wollenburg.
