Amos A. Altland, 83, passed away on Monday, August 5, 2013, at York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Treva (Kessler) (Thoman) Altland and the late Harriett (Plunkett) Altland.

Amos was born in York, on February 24, 1930, and was the son of the late Norman F. Altland and the late Mabel I. (Mummert) Altland.

He worked for P.H. Glatfelter in Spring Grove for over 30 years and retired in 1969. After retiring he owned and operated Altland Trailer Sales in Spring Grove. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed going to his cabin in the mountains. He was also a lifetime member of the Spring Grove Lions Club.

In addition to his wife, Treva, he is survived by his sons, Amos Altland, Jr. and wife, Donna of York, Carl Altland and wife, Catherine of Spring Grove, and Rodger Altland and wife, Rose of Spring Grove; his daughter, Karen Senft and husband, Rickie of Spring Grove; stepdaughters, Virginia Thoman and husband, Larry of Spring Grove, and Faye Spangler and husband, Andrew of Spring Grove; seven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and five step great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, William and Donald Altland; his siste,r Violet Becker; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Harriett Altland; his brothers, Earl, Richard, Cleason, Emory, and Norman Altland; and his sister, Grace Heaston.

A funeral service in celebration of his life will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Irwin-Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service PC, 175 N Main St., Spring Grove, with the Rev. Martin W. Bove officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife Harriet at Greenmount Cemetery in York.

A viewing will be held on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to York County SPCA, 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York PA 17406.
