Funeral services for William Gueltzow, 74, farmer in this vicinity all his life, who died February 16, were conducted February 21 at 2 p.m. at the Stohr chapel, the Rev. Edward Mohr officiating. Burial was in the Buffalo City cemetery. Songs were sung by the junior choir of the Reformed church. Pallbearers were Oscar Averbeck, Hubert Averbeck, Robert Miller, Edwin Wilk, Helmuth Wilk and Joseph Buchmiller. Mr. Gueltzow, son of Fred and Louisa (Bielefeldt) Gueltzow, was born February 15, 1869, on a farm in the town of Alma, and spent his early life on his parents' farm where he assisted in the work. He married Minnie Schmidt September 28,1897, in the town of Lincoln. They rented farms in the town of Waumandee for about 10 years and then rented the John Rohrer farm near Cochrane for five years. They moved 21 years ago onto a farm in the town of Belvidere which they purchased from Leonard Gleiter, and which had since been their home. Mr. Gleiter suffered a stroke February 15, his birthday. Survivors are his wife; nine children, Selma, (Mrs. Harry Hendricks), Cochrane; Oliver, La Crosse; Viola (Mrs. George Sayner), Seattle, Wash.; Elmer and Walter, Rollingstone; Melvin, town of Alma; William Jr., and Dorothy Kiburg, at home, and Ruth (Mrs. Wilmer Peterson), Hastings; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Emil and Albert, Mondovi, and three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Kirchner, Waumandee; Mrs. Emma Rowley, Rochester, and Mrs. Annie Walters, Groton D.C. One of the grandchildren, Patricia Ann Gueltzow, six, has been reared by Mr. and Mrs. Gueltzow. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. George Sayner, Seattle; Private John Gueltzow, Fort Lewis, Wash., and his wife and infant son and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Gueltzow and son Louis, La Crosse; Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Peterson and sons, Hastings; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Gueltzow and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gueltzow and children, Rollingstone; Miss Myra Hendricks and L. Porter Jung, Winona; Mrs. Tony Zittel and daughter, Eau Claire; Mrs. Emma Rowley, Rochester; Mr. and Mrs. William Toburen, Greenwood, and Emil and Albert Gueltzow, Mondovi.
