MOCKSVILLE - Dr. Victor L. Andrews Jr., 78, of Wandering Lane in Mocksville, passed away Friday, Aug. 18, 2006. Dr. Andrews was born July 2, 1928, in Jacksonville, N.C., to the late Rev. Victor Lee and Clara Webb Andrews. He was a graduate of Mocksville High School and received his bachelor of science degree from Wake Forest College. Dr. Andrews graduated magna cum laude from Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, Dental School, University of Maryland, DDS, in 1955, where he was an honorary Phi Kappa Phi. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948. Dr. Andrews retired from his private dental practice in Mocksville after 32 years, but remained active in many dental affiliations. He was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church. Dr. Andrews was involved in many civic organizations including the Davie County Board of Education; Mocksville Rotary Club; Chamber of Commerce; and was a 32 degree Mason of Lodge No. 134. He had many interests, among those was supporting such service organizations as the United Way and the American Red Cross. Dr. Andrews enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid reader. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Jean Smith Andrews on May 19, 2005; and a brother, the Rev. Edwin Andrews. Survivors include a daughter, Holly Andrews (Tony) Sinopoli of Mocksville; two grandchildren, Nick and Victoria Sinopoli; and a brother, Jim Andrews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at First Baptist Church, Mocksville, with Dr. Van Lankford officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Rose Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites conducted by Mocksville Masonic Lodge No. 134 A.F. & A.M. The family requests that memorials be considered for Operation Smile, c/o Mocksville Rotary Club, P.O. Box 695, Mocksville, NC 27028. Eaton Funeral Home is serving the family of Dr. Andrews.
