Ada was the daughter of Ralph Bellamy and Emma Dixon Bellamy. She was educated in the Russell County School System and was a graduate of Sandfort High School. She was employed with the Phenix City Board of Education as a Food Service Technician for 31 years until her retirement in 2003 while working at Phenix City Elementary School. She was a member of St Peter AME Church in Seale, Albama where she served on the Culinary Ministry and as President of the Missionary Society.
She was married to Carey Hammond Sr. She was preceded in death by 1 sister, Cora McCoy.
Survivors:
2 Daughters: Sandra Twymon(Roderick) and Jackie L. Hammond.
3 Sons: Carey Hammond Jr, David Hammond Sr(Tabatha) and Jeffrey Hammond Sr(Cynthia).
4 Sisters: Queen L. Brooks, Emma L. Davis, Mary Carter(Freddie) and Rosie Morgan(Tommy).
3 Brothers: Otis Bellamy(Maggie), Henry Bellamy(Betty) and Johnny Bellamy(Elizabeth).
1 Brother-In-Law: Robert McCoy.
1 Aunt: Sarah Mason.
14 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 12PM in the Sanctuary of Saint Peter AME Church in Seale, Alabama with Rev Elijah McKissic Officiating.
