Archibald James Beattie, son of James Magill Beattie and Mary Twitty, was born 15 May 1878 at Stoneboro in Kershaw County.. On 30 July 1902, he married Harriet Estelle Smith, daughter of J. E Smith and Hattie C. Latta of Camden. They were the parents of three children: E Dawson, Archibald James,
Jr., and Aubrey Estelle (m. Herbert Felton).
His wife predeceased him.
Archibald James Beattie died 4 June 1969 in a Sumter hospital and was buried in Bishopville Presbyterian Church Cemetery."
