Paul E. Harper, 78, of Slater MO, died Aug. 17, 2013, at his home. Born Jan. 3, 1935, in Slater, he was the son of the late Paul A. and Frances Newton Harper. On March 14, 1986, he married Martha Chronister, who survives of the home. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a member of the Fulton Masonic Lodge. He worked as a welder at Messer Machine Shop and later retired from Marshall Habilitation Center.

He also leaves his sons Paul E. Harper, Jr., of Marshall MO and James R. Harper of Eldon MO; daughters Penny Case of Warsaw MO, and Barbara Friend and Paula Hodges, both of Marshall; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and brothers Ernest Harper of Buda TX and Bill Harper of Columbia MO.

Graveside services with military honors will be Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at 10 AM at the High Hill Cemetery north of Slater, with Rev. Charles Stephenson officiating.
