Merle married John Waddel (divorced) and later married George "Bill" Hyde in Salt Lake City and they were later sealed in the Idaho Falls, LDS Temple. Bill passed away in 1976. Merle, at the age of 82, then married Edwin O. Haroldsen and spent five wonderful years together before Ed passed away.
Merle served at the Idaho Falls, Provo and Mount Timpanogos Temples for over 30 years. She also served an LDS Mission in the California Arcadia Mission.
She loved to play games with friends and family. Merle was very quick-witted with a keen sense of humor right to the end. She cherished the many loyal and close friends she made everywhere she lived. She was able to personally express her love to many of her friends and family the day before she passed. She expressed, "My life has been a wonderful journey and I wouldn't change a thing. I have loved every second of it."
Merle was preceded in death by her parents, brother, husbands, her son Jack Waddel and many close friends. Survivors include; her sons, Randy (Carolyn), Scott (Tawni), Gary (Sharon), Bob (Carol) Hyde and daughter-in-law Donetta Waddel, many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren.
The family would like to acknowledge the great compassion, care and friendship provided by Summerfield Retirement Community, Timpanogos Regional Medical Center, Aspen Ridge of Utah Valley and Utah Valley Specialty Hospital (Riverwoods).
Merle's graveside service will be held Saturday, 10 August, at the Rexburg, Idaho Cemetery at 4:00 pm.
