Mrs. Sarah Alford moved from her farm, south of town last week to her residence in the east part of town. Mrs. Alford has rented her farm to her grandson, John Alford, who will move on the same next March.

Sarah Thorogood Alford was born in Cattarangus county, New York, June 21, 1845; died at her home in Cairo, Nebraska on Sunday, July 3, 1921, aged 76 years and 12 days. The funeral services were conducted at the Burwick church at two o'clock on Tuesday following, by Rev. C. M. Strong of the Baptist church, of which organization Mrs. Alford had been a faithful and consistent member for many years. Interment in Rickard (old name for Berwick) Cemetery, southeast of Cairo, followed the services at the church.
The deceased, when a child, moved with her parents to Iowa, in which state she was married to Charles L. Alford, on October 12, 1859. to this union were born two sons; Edward, who lives near Cairo, and Albert, who passed to the other world about sixteen years ago.
With her family the deceased came to Hall county, Nebraska, in the fall of 1873, where she has since been known and loved by all of the pioneers of the county for her kindly deeds and acts of christian charity and assistance in the interests of others. Mr. Alford, her husband, preceded her in death several years ago.
To surviving relatives the many friends of the family extend sincere sympathy.
