Officer George P. Fischer, DSN 2617, was commissioned as a Police Officer on 08/19/1957 and entered the academy for the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department. At graduation he was assigned badge number 429. On 01/02/1968 resigned from the Saint Louis Police Department and joined the Saint Louis County Police Department. Officer Fischer had over 10 years and 4 months of faithful and dedicated service to the Saint Louis Police Department.
Fischer, George Philip of St. Louis, Missouri, entered into peaceful eternal sleep on August 6, 2013 at the age of 86.
George was the beloved husband and best friend of the late Helen Fischer (nee Mastilovich). He was the son of the late Philip and Margaret Fischer and the brother of the late Philip Fischer and the late Erwin Michael Fischer. George leaves behind his loving family that includes his daughter Diane, his daughter Robyn (Gregg) Meyer, his son Raymond, and his two grandsons, Raymond Jr. and Bryan.
Aside from George serving in the U.S. Navy, he also belonged to the American Legion, and the Bolanovich - Krajonovich Post. George was a police officer for more than forty years with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and St. Louis County Police Department. He took pride in his work and was proud to be a member of the police force.
He, like his late wife Helen, enjoyed watching his grandson grow up, and yearly vacations at Lake of the Ozarks, Daytona Beach, and Las Vegas. He loved watching sports, especially our St. Louis Cardinals and he loved collecting beer steins and other memorabilia. George will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but he will be alive in all of our hearts forever.
