Elizabeth Joan (Ackerson) Milton was born on December 1, 1934 in Port Arthur, Texas. She was a faithful member of Utopia United Methodist Church and helped assist with the church newsletter as well as the Sunday worship bulletin. Joan was also a volunteer at Utopia Memorial Library. Being an expert at the typewriter, she was skillful at the many library and church tasks put before her. Joan was also very fluent in Spanish. She assisted in Spanish lessons and tutorials at Utopia High School whenever she was needed. Joan was quite fond of the dulcimer and the flute. Her fondness of these instruments was so strong that she took the liberty of playing them during holiday worship services at her church. She married Obie D. Milton, Jr. on May 27, 1977 in Port Arthur and was very devoted to her loving husband. She was also very active in the Eastern Star order in Utopia. She also assisted her husband in the many duties of the Masonic Lodge in Utopia. Joan will definitely be missed by her family and all of her friends.
