Clarence H. Andres, 87, of 2145 Brookside Ave., Minetto, died Friday at Community-General Hospital.

He was born in Tonawanda.

Mr. Andres was employed as a foreman at Columbia Mills for more than 30 years, retiring in 1971. He was the original operator of the Minetto waste water treatment plant, a position he held for approximately eight years.

Mr. Andres was a member of the Minetto United Methodist Church. He was the former fire chief of the Minetto Volunteer Fire Department and was secretary-treasurer of the Minetto Rod and Gun Club. He also was chairman of Troop 19 of the Boy Scouts of America.

He bowled with the Senior Citizens in Fulton and recorded many high bowling scores in the Oswego area in the 1940s and 1950s.

Surviving are his wife, the former Elizabeth Haren; three sons, Donald of West Mansfield, Mass., Robert of Oswego and Gene of Scriba; a brother, Harold of Pinellas Park, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Dowdle Funeral Home, the Rev. Richard Elliott officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Minetto Cemetery.

Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 154 E. Fourth St., Oswego.

Contributions may be made to the Minetto United Methodist Church, the Minetto Volunteer Fire Department or to the American Diabetes Association.
