Elaine M. Lopes, 59, of East Freetown died on February 4, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in East Freetown, the daughter of the late Edwin and Jennie (Gonsalves) Lopes, She lived in East Freetown all of her life.

She was formerly employed by Cameo Curtains in New Bedford and C.H.F. Industries in Fall River for many years until her retirement.

Elaine was very involved in church ministry and devoted to God and His people. She sang in church choirs for many years and produced an album with the Christ Ambassadors Choir. She also sang with her sisters in the Lopes Sisters singing group.

She enjoyed cooking and sharing her cooking with the neighborhood.

Survivors include 2 brothers, Edwin "Jock" Lopes, Jr., and his wife Elaine, of East Freetown and Robert Lopes, and his wife Dianne, of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Sheila Lopes of East Freetown and Sandra "Chipper" Echevarria, and her husband Jorge, of New Bedford; many nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren, 1 uncle and several aunts.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service in the Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 4321 North Main St., Fall RiverSaturday, February 7th at 8:30 AM.

Visiting hours at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordFriday, February 6th from 6-9 PM.
