Bernard Gascon
Bernard T. "Bernie" Gascon, 83, of Caldwell, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at a Caldwell care center. Rosary Devotions will be recited at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 11, at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Caldwell. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 12, at the church. Interment with military honors will follow at Canyon Hill Cemetery, Caldwell under direction of the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Bernie was born May 16, 1923, in Los Angeles, Calif., the seventh of 12 children born to Pearl and Joseph Gascon. He graduated from St. Patrick's High School in Walla Walla, Wash. Bernie served in three branches of the military and worked as a salesman for Rostock Furniture in Caldwell for over 45 years.
He is survived by his wife, Neva of Caldwell; two daughters, Cheryl Gascon and Sandra Clevengar; sons-in-law, Dave Mashburn and Ron DeBoard; and grandchildren, Shonna Gentry and her husband Kevin, Shane Mashburn, Scott DeBoard and Michael DeBoard; numerous nieces and nephews including two special great-nieces, Nichole Korn and Kelli Korn and his special football buddy, Casey Spirk; four sisters, Vicki Bates of Walla, Walla, Wash., Jane Nielsen of Mount Lake Terrace, Wash., Ruth West of Longview, Texas and Evelyn Simas of Post Falls.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters and a grandson, Bernard T. DeBoard.
