Elmer Brandt was born the son of August Brandt and the former Ella Behnke in Clear Lake, South Dakota on July 4, 1895. He grew up and attended school in South Dakota. On February 28, 1924 he was married to Mabel H. Klante in Minnesota. They made their home in Watertown, South Dakota where he worked as a city fireman for several years. In 1947 they moved to Oregon and made their home in Newberg where he operated the filter plant at Publishers Paper until retiring about 10 years ago. Elmer was very interested in his church, the First Assembly of God Church in Newberg, and was faithful in his attendance, as well as serving as Treasurer and Board member.
Surviving are: his widow, Mabel, of Newberg; four children, Fern Johnson, of Denver, Colo., Phyllis Arn of Tigard, Wayne Brandt of Reno, Nev. and Bonnie Bibelheimer of Fountain Valley, Calif.; one brother, Melvin Brandt of Greeley, Colo.; one sister, Mae Heebner of Estelline, South Dakota; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
