Charles Van Buren Daugherty
Northboro, Mass. — Charles Van Buren Daugherty of Northboro, Mass., formerly of Dallastown, died at 12:45 a.m. Nov. 30 at Marlborough Hospital, Marlborough, Mass. He was 87.
Mr. Daugherty was postmaster at the Dallastown Post Office for many years and later a postal inspector prior to retirement.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
He was a lifetime member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Dallastown.
He was a member of American Legion Post No. 605, Dallastown, and Free and Accepted Masons, Red Lion Lodge for more than 50 years.
Born in Dallastown, July 8, 1913, he was a son of the late U. J. and Barbara E. Fix Daugherty.
He leaves his wife of 64 years, Leola Ehrhart Daugherty; a son, Lenn C. Daugherty of Northboro; two grandchildren; and four brothers, Donald Daugherty of Airville, Dwight Daugherty and Dean Daugherty, both of Red Lion, and Paul Daugherty of Columbia, Lancaster County.
Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 109 E. Main St., Dallastown. The service is at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Thomas C. Webb and the Rev. Donald L. Harper officiating.
Burial is in Dallastown Union Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post No. 604, Dallastown.
