James M. Abdelnour, Jr., 58, of Dartmouth died Thursday November 11, 2004 at home after a brief illness. He was the husband of Janice D. (Marote) Abdelnour.
Born in Acushnet, he was the son of Margaret M. (Paliatto) Xifaras of Marion and the late James M. Abdelnour and the late Robert Xifaras. He had lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth for most of his life.

He was a member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church.

Mr. Abdelnour was formerly employed as a salesman for Sears Automotive in Dartmouth for over 30 years.

Mr. Abdelnour served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the National Defense Service medal, the Sharpshooter Badge, and the Parachutist Badge. He enjoyed sports and bowling with the Thursday Night Strikers. He enjoyed playing with his dog, Lady, and his cat, Jasper.

Survivors include his wife; his mother; four children, Gail Rego, and her husband Scott, Michael Day, and James M. Abdelnour III, and his wife Sonja, all of New Bedford, and Benji Abdelnour, and his wife Jen, of Tennessee; two brothers, Mark Abdelnour, and his wife Jo-Anna, of Marion, and Robert Xifaras of Florida; five sisters, Margaret Hardsog, and her husband William, of Wareham, Cynthia Kinney, Valerie Leger and Robin Xifaras, and her friend, Patrick LaRue, all of New Bedford, and Camille Dawn Xifaras of Assonet; six grandchildren, Christopher Day and Denise Day, both of New Hampshire, Victoria Xavier and Karenna Abdelnour, both of New Bedford, and Kolby Abdelnour and Kaeden Abdelnour, both of Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral from the the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Monday November 15, 2004 at 8 AM. Funeral Service in St. Martin's Episcopal Church, County and Rivet Sts., New Bedford at 9 AM. Burial will be in Little Neck Cemetery, Marion.
