Isiah "Pop" Baylor was born September 21, 1912, to Major Baylor and Dora Morrison Baylor in Kemper County, MS.

In August 1932, he joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in DeKalb, MS, where he was a lifelong member and active servant until his health failed.

On January 4, 1938, he married Leona Burton, the daughter of Jim Burton and Octavia Mosley Burton, who was also a native of Kemper County, MS, and they had five children, three sons and two daughters.

For 85 years, he was known for his music where he ministered through his gospel singing. He sang with his brothers, nephews, and children. His deep rich bass voice was priceless, recognizable and loved my many. "I Gave My Heart to Jesus and What About You", best describes his message in song that he would convey to his listening audience.

He is the Founder of The Baylor Family Gospel Singers, and until his death, he encouraged his children to keep singing for the Lord. His life's motto was "Your Word Is Your Bond", and he demonstrated this effectively in his daily communication with everyone he encountered. He was a long time member of Oak Grove Masonic Lodge #150.

He died August 3, 2013, at the age of 100.

He was the Husband of Leona Burton Baylor; the Father of Herman Baylor, Joe Baylor, Major Baylor, Annie Pearl "Ann" Baylor Mathis, Amy Jean Baylor Jones Chamberlain, Erma Baylor Humphreys, Joann Baylor McClendon, Manson Baylor, Jimmy Jack Baylor, Tommy Lee Baylor, Robert Baylor, Walter Baylor, David Frank Baylor, and Willie James Baylor; the Son of Major Baylor and Dora Morrison Baylor; and the Brother of Lindsay Baylor, Roger Baylor, William Tommy Baylor, Zedekiah Baylor, Aaron Baylor, Louise Baylor Holliday, Daisy Dean Baylor, and Ruthie Mae Baylor.
