Vera McNeil Martin Pruitt, 87, of 425 Pruitt Drive, Fieldale, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000 in the Beverly Health Care Center in Martinsville.
She was born June 30, 1913 in Patrick County, daughter of the late Samuel Giles Martin and the late Mattie Sue Hodges Martin. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Woodrow Pruitt; a son, James W. Taylor; five brothers; and four sisters.
She retired from Fieldcrest Cannon and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are a daughter, Loretta Joyce of Fieldale; two brothers, B. Dudley Martin of Pleasant Grove and Curtis John Martin of Fort Myers, Fla., and Rocky Mount; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held Tuesday at Roselawn Burial Park with the Rev. Richard Harrison officiating. Visitation will be from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. today at Norris Funeral Services and other times at the 425 Pruitt Drive home in Fieldale.
Memorials may be made to the Southside Virginia Alzheimer's Association, 9080 Highway 1, South Hill, Va. 23970.
