Mrs. Anna (Rumrill) Hammond, born to James Augustus and Anna (Chapin) Rumrill in Springfield, Massachusetts. She started a nursing scholarship awarded yearly by the Girl's Clubs of Boston and gave the town of Waterford, Connecticut its original Public Library. Survived by a son, James, R. Hammond of Marblehead, Massachusetts and five grandchildren. Predeceased by a daughter, Mr.s William Davis Taylor (formerly Mary Ironside Hammond) in 1947
