Franklin Albaugh was born March 4, 1847, at Amsterdam, Jefferson County, and died at Jewett, February 21, 1919. His death occurred suddenly and was engaged at his daily duties in the enameling works where he had been a faithful employee for many years. While at home for dinner he told his wife he had been suffering from severe pains in his chest. She insisted upon him remaining at home for the rest of the day, but he thought he would feel better at work, and so returned to the factory. A short time after he entered upon his afternoon work, the death stroke came, and suddenly he was gone.
Mr. Albaugh was quite a humble, faithful, Christian gentleman, highly respected, and loved by all. He was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian church, was a good neighbor and a kind father and husband. He will be sadly missed in the home, the church and the shop.
Franklin Albaugh was the son of George and Avis Albaugh. He was married to Julia Anne Walker, September 23, 1875. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Jesse Knox of Amsterdam. His wife died March 25, 1877, and he was left alone with his infant daughter. On May 15, 1884, he was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Quinn. To this union were born two sons, Harry Lee, who died in infancy, and Walter, who resides in Jewett. There survives to mourn his loss the widow, one daughter, one son, two sisters and three grandchildren.
The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church on Sunday, interment in the Jewett Cemetery
