Alston Hunter Green was an early and prominent planter along the banks of the Chattahoochee River. When he died in 1847 his plantation and possessions, including 37 slaves, were valued at twenty-four thousand dollars, the most valuable estate ever disposed of in the county up to that time. He also jointly operated a ferry across the Chattahoochee with Isaac Howell, who is buried in Howell Cemetery, Mableton, Cobb County. When they died the ferry service passed to their sons, Clement Clay Green and Clement Clay Howell, both buried in their respective family cemeteries.

The former plantation has been graded flat & now consists of office parks, industrial sites, and part of Fulton County Airport.

He served in the War of 1812 as a Private in the Georgia regiment
