Jean A. Mountz Kibler, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Friday evening, August 9, 2013, at the Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
On June 14, 1926, Jean was born in Marion, Ohio, the second of four daughters of the late Glen and Sarah "Mae" (Miller) Mountz. She suffered from scarlet fever as a child, but persevered to graduate from Marion Harding High School in the Class of 1946, and live a full and meaningful life.
While her parents were visiting with another couple in Marion, Jean was introduced to their son, Charles Kibler, shortly before he left to serve in World War II. They immediately "took a shine" to one another, and she decided to devout herself to him in that short amount of time. They continued communicating and she faithfully awaited his return from the war. He went straight to be by her side and upon his return, and they would marry soon thereafter on May 9, 1948, at a chapel in Columbus. They cherished every moment of their sixty two years of marriage, and lovingly raised two daughters, Amy and Wendy. He admired her, and took every opportunity to show his love to her. He preceded her in death on June 16, 2010, and she has longed to be reunited with him every day since.
In addition to being a loving homemaker, Jean worked as an artist for Stein Studios in Marion, colorizing black and white photos. She worked from home so she could also take care of her children.
Quite the baker, Jean made sure everything was homemade that came from her kitchen. She wouldn't even skimp on her daughters' packed lunches, making them special homemade meals for them to take to school. She also loved decorating cookies for Christmas and Easter, making sure they made to perfection using her special artistic touch.
Having a most beautiful singing voice, Jean sang on the radio at WMRN for many years. She had a lifelong love for music, preferring classical music.
A godly woman who trusted deeply in God, Jean was a faithful member of the Unity School of Christianity.
Very particular, Jean was a "master gardener", always making sure her yard, flowers, trees and bushes were immaculate. Going to her home felt like going to a park everything was so well cared for. She truly had a "green thumb".
Despite being small in size, Jean was large in heart. She was a very loving woman, and was a devoted wife and mother, who always put her family first. She was so very proud of her family and their accomplishments.
She will be affectionately remembered by her two daughters: Amy (John) Neville of Marion, and Wendy (Walt) Nichols of Delaware; five grandchildren: Matthew Neville of Marion, and Wesley (Elizabeth) Neville of Nevada, Courtney Gerhart of Toledo, Amy Nichols of Delaware, and Chris (Dan) Allwine of Athens; five great-grandchildren: Nathan and Ryan Neville, Ben, Abby and Lexi Allwine; three sisters: Virginia Duffey of Marion, Glenna (Charles) Rodman of Delaware, and Rachel Chapman of Marion; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Including her husband and parents, Jean was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Melody Patrice Kibler in 1950.
