Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, EuGene Leon Ellis, 51, passed away January 8, 1990 at his home, following a courageous two year battle with cancer.

Born March 16, 1938 in Helper, Utah to Thomas Harry and Susie Florine Olsen Ellis. Married Phyllis Carol Leavitt. Later divorced. Married Marlene Smith May 22, 1975 in Salt Lake City. Later solemnized in the Jordan River LDS Temple. He graduated from Carbon High School in 1956 participating in music, drama, sport activities, and was the class Valedictorian. Attended the American Legion Boy's State in 1955, and attended BYU 1960-61. Served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany in 1957-59, where he served as secretary to the General. Served in various church callings including, Branch Presidency, Elder's Quorum Presidency, Young Men's Presidency, Sunday School Presidency, Scouting, Bishopric, and most recently served on the West Jordan Bingham Creek Stake High Council. He had a great love for the youth, and coached U.Y.S.A Soccer for 7 years.Survived by his wife, Marlene, West Jordan; eight children: Mrs. Monte (Candy) Symmonds; Steven Ellis and wife, Diane; Mrs. Brad (Holly) Leavitt; April Ellis, all Las Vegas, Nevada; Tammy Ellis, Lehi, Utah; Michael Ellis; Chad Ellis, and Brandon Ellis, all of West Jordan; eight grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Lee (Janet) Albertson, Kearns; Uncle Hawley and Aunt Barbara Olsen, Las Vegas, Nevada.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 10, 1990, 11 a.m. in the West Jordan Bingham Creek Stake Center, 8950 South 1300 West, where friends may call Tuesday evening 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to the service. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens. Funeral directors Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary.
