Eleanor Neeley, 92, of Volin, SD, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2013 at her daughter's residence in Volin, South Dakota.

Eleanor was born November 7, 1920 in Goodhue County, Minnesota to Christian & Lilian (Nelson) Albers.

Eleanor graduated from nursing school in 1942, and joined the U.S. Army as a Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corp during W.W.II. She served in England from 1943-1944. She married Frederick K. Neeley on July 28, 1945. Eleanor retired from the U.S. Civil Service in 1986, and lived with her family in Columbus, MS. until moving to Seward NE. where she resided until 2012.

She was a strong and independent woman who pursued her nursing career, was a single parent during her husband's deployments in Korea and Vietnam, and moved her family to numerous military bases during her husband's career in the USAF. She had a strong faith; she was "faithful until death" and has received "the crown of life."

She was preceded in death by her husband SM/SGT F.K. Neeley, and her daughter, Janet Neeley Matthews.

She is survived by her sisters, Lorraine Peterson Red Wing, MN, Florence and Kenneth Bremer of Red Wing, MN and her brothers, Howard and Dianne Albers of Mazeppa, MN, Robert and Sue Albers of Lake City, MN. her children, David and Joanne Neeley of Seward, NE, Barbara and Keith Swenson of Volin, S.D., and Mary Ann Neeley and Nette Shaw of Fulshear, TX. several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends.


Service:
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2013, at Seward United Methodist Church with Rev. Adam DeMike officiating.

Cemetery:
Burial of ashes will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Fort Snelling, Minnesota.
