JOHNSTOWN — CARDELLINO – Darlene "Nanny," 82, Johnstown, went to be with the Lord Jan. 22, 2011. Born Aug. 1, 1928, in Johnstown, daughter of Ario and Sally (Eva) Fertick, and beloved wife of Carlo Cardellino Sr. Preceded in death by parents; husband; brothers, John, Paul and Ario; sisters, Dora Allen, Thelma Hess, Lydia Durica, Geraldine Gzanko, Gloria Wyar and Joan Ober; and grandson, Damian Paul Leonard. Proud mother of Carlo Cardellino Jr., husband of Donna, Johnstown; Cindy, married to Paul Leonard, Boswell; and Debra, wife of Dr. Larry Beatty, Johnstown. Sister of Sally Jane Senft, Sidman; grandmother of Heather Clutter, Erin Mikolich, Chad Heidenthal, Ryan Heidenthal, Charity Heidenthal, Carly Cardellino and Carlo Anthony Cardellino; stepgrandchildren, Brett and Emily Beatty; and nine great-grandchildren. She attended Praise and Worship Center. Carlo and Darlene opened their house for "Reach out for Jesus" in the '70s to young people for a period of seven years to minister the gospel of Jesus Christ. She worked closely with her husband, Carlo, who was the proprietor of Tommy the Tailor. She was a tremendous cook and opened the first takeout spaghetti shop. For many years she served as a Sunday school teacher and was a leader for the Pioneer girls. Darlene was an exceptional gospel soloist. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 11 a.m. until time of service at noon Wednesday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., Victor Cafeo, officiating. Interment, Richland Cemetery. To our mother, grandmother, a true inspiration, who we miss and love, someday we will meet again in Heaven. Darlene and Carlo were strong believers in Jesus Christ and they raised their children and grandchildren to do the same.
