James Bernard "Baney" Quilter.
Husband of the late: Mary Carmalla (Sarno) Quilter.

Father of: James Barnie {Michelle Saddoris} Quilter,and
Mary Ann Flannagan.

Grandfather of: Thomas Bernard,and Colleen Flannagan,
Ann Marie(Kevin) Whelan,Kenneth, Michael and,
Kathryn Mary Quilter.

Brother of the late: Jack Quilter, Ann Marie Peterman,
Ellen Brennan, and Thomas Quilter.

Son of the late: James T,and Helen Marie (Haley) Quilter.

He served his country in the 167th,Combat Engineer Battalion in the European Theater in the Rhineland During World WarII he received an honorable as a Staff Sergeant.

James chose a political career that lasted 28 years he was a member of the Ohio Legislature with 24 in leadership of the Democratic Caucus,and 20 years as a Speaker Pro Tem of the house of representatives.

He made many accomplishment among them is Maumee Bay State Park an idea he conceived that took 20 years to finish, Quilter Lodge that bears his name is located in the park.

Also a work-earn-learn camp in Green Springs Ohio is named in his honer Camp Quilter spinsored by the Ohio Civilian Conservation Corps under the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

James was involved in the development of the University of Toledo, the Seagate Center,Millard Ave Overpass,Public Education,Alzheleimer's Research, and the Medical University of Ohio.

He lead investigative efforts exposing fraud and abuse in the Sandusky Old Soldiers and Sailors Home and brough major reform during 1970's.

Death: complications from a stroke.
