SANTA FE — Mrs. Hazel Vera Sikes passed from this life Friday, October 28, 2005, in Webster.
Born January 14, 1921, in Goodwater, Oklahoma, Mrs. Sikes had lived in Santa Fe since 2002, previously of Oklahoma and had been a 40 year resident of Texas City. She attended Arcadia First Baptist Church, enjoyed gardening, and had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile and the Heights Rescue Unit Ladies Auxiliary.
Preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers; 4 sisters; son-in-law, J. M. Allphin and her grandchildren, Shelley Sikes and Chuck Platt.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Ed Sikes, Sr. of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; sons, Edward Sikes, Jr., and his wife, Sally of Texas City, David Sikes and wife, Kim of Santa Fe; daughter, Glenda Allphin of Santa Fe; brother, Henry Prater of Broken Bow, Olahoma; sisters, Lorraine Dye, Mildred Clark and Gracie Ward, all of California; grandchildren and their spouses, Gwen and Bruce Eversole, Tammi Pitts, Dana and Steve Wild, Julie Sikes, Jessica Sikes, Andrew Sikes, James and Sarah Allphin, Byron and Elsie Allphin, Clint and Dickie Allphin, 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 31, 2005, at Grace Memorial Park Cemetery, Pastor Mike Honeycutt officiating.
Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m., Sunday in the parlor of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501.
