"A 41-year-old Wheaton man who was found stabbed to death was a former handyman and Army veteran, police said Monday. The body of Richard C. Allport, 210 Kellogg Place, was found Friday evening in a wooded area near Jessica Court, on the grounds of the Theosophical Society. Allport, who was homeless until recently, was identified Monday through fingerprints, Wheaton Police Cmdr. Terrence Leonard said. No motive has been established for the crime, and police are still without any suspects."

"Murder charges were filed Thursday against the ex-wife of a Wheaton man whose body was repeatedly stabbed and left in a wooded area several weeks ago. Sharon R. Murray, 40, of Plano, has been charged in the death of 41-year-old Richard C. Allport. Allport's body was discovered July 27 on the grounds of the Theosophical Society, near the 300 block of W. Cole Avenue, by several teen-agers walking in the wooded area. Allport's family and friends on Thursday said they did not suspect Murray prior to the arrest despite the couple's long and strained relationship."

"Richard Allport's daughter had been separated from her father since childhood, but planned on getting in touch with him. Now 16, Allport's daughter, Stephanie, told a DuPage County judge she will never have that chance because her father was murdered. Following such emotional testimony, Circuit Court Judge Thomas Callum sentenced Sharon Murray to 30 years for the murder of Allport last year in Wheaton. Murray and Allport had been sweethearts at Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn, and had been married from March of 1991 to August 1992. Stephanie was Allport's daughter from a previous marriage."
