Mrs. Maude Matter, 57, widow of Charles B. Matter, former proprietor of the Texaco Gas Station, died suddenly at her home, 642 East Main St., on Monday from a heart attack.
Mrs. Matter who had been ill for several months, was a patient at the Harrisburg Hospital for a month, returning to her home the week before Christmas.
She was a resident of Lykens for the past 40 years. Her husband preceded her in death June 16, 1946. Mrs. Matter was a former resident of Mansville. She was the former Maude Beasom, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Beasom. Surviving are one daughter, Winifred, Mrs. Scott Umberger, at home; one son, Charles B. Matter, Lykens; five grandchildren, Jane Scott Umberger, Charles, Joan, Michael and Judith Ann Matter, and two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Peters, Lewistown and Mrs. Marie Gibb, Newport. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church.
Funeral services were held from her home, 642 East Main Street, Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock with Rev. Hiram Trostel, pastor of the Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial took place in the P.O.S. of A. Cemetery.
