WALTER COBB BOWDEN

Walter Cobb Bowden, aged 77, of Lower Alloway Creek, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 17, at his home. Born in Canton, on June 4, 1931, he was the son of the late Milferd H. and Pearl Cobb Bowden. Mr. Bowden was a dispatcher for Owens-Illinois Glass Company, in Bridgeton.

Walt was an avid trap shooter. He and his wife enjoyed traveling to many different state shoots across the country, and he was a lifetime member of the American Trap Shooting Assoc. Mr. Bowden is survived by his wife, the former Helen Patterson, who he married on Nov. 23, 1950, being married 58 years.

He is also survived by his daughter, Mandy Bowden, of Canton; and his son, Richard Bowden and wife, Rhonda, of Pennsylvania. Mr. Bowden is predeceased by sister, Isabella (Bowden) Ecret; and brother, Milferd "Doc" Bowden.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Canton Baptist Church, 700 Smick Road, where friends may call after 6 p.m. Interment will be private.

Arrangements are by Woodside Funeral Home, Salem.
