Jennifer A. Martel, of Waltham

Jennifer A. Martel, of Waltham, passed away after being murdered in a fit of rage by her boyfriend Jared Remy. She was 27.

She was born March 27, 1986 in Flagstaff, Arizona. Relatives remember her as a kind hearted young woman that was an avid sports fan, and loved her family and friends. She was kind and outgoing.

Beloved daughter to her parents Brian and Patricia Martel, who live in Virginia. Sister to her brother Brian Martel, Jr. also from Virginia with his wife and children. She also leaves behind many uncles, aunts and cousins, as well as close friends.

Jennifer Martel graduated from Taunton High School in 2004. In her yearbook write up, she said she would miss football games, homecoming dances, and hanging out with friends. She was just a beautiful person and she wanted to better herself through education. She was studying to become a teacher and working at Market Basket to pay expenses. Her uncle Richard plans to open up a memorial fund in Jennifer Martel's name, to help the family pay for burial expenses. He said she was an outgoing person that liked to have fun, and had a beautiful spirit. She had a great personality. She worked hard, she worked at various places, sometimes even two jobs, and never complained about it. The employees at the Raynham Market Basket said they remembered her as being well adjusted and a "sweet" person.

Jennifer Martel will be laid to rest in the Mayflower Hill Cemetery in Taunton, Massachusetts.
