OBITUARY-
Rena Catherine "Henderson" Hanson, age 93, of Austin, died Wednesday morning, Aug. 18, 2004, at Austin Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 21, 1910, to James and Lua (Gunder) Dormady in a sod house in North Dakota. She attended school in North Dakota and at age 13 moved to Minnesota, where she attended Sumner Center School. The family settled in Washington, Minn. where, after completing her education, Rena worked caring for area children. She later worked at Libby's Canning Factory in Rochester.
She married Frank Henderson on June 30, 1928, in Spring Valley. They lived in Rochester until 1938, when they moved to Oronoco. In 1941, they moved to Los Angeles, Calif. In 1943, they moved to Stacy, a suburb north of Minneapolis, and in 1947 to Grand Meadow, where they started farming. They moved into Elkton in 1952, where they operated the Henderson Grocery store until 1967. After Frank's death in 1965, Rena took over his duties as postmaster.
Rena married Glen Hanson on Jan. 29, 1969, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They lived in Elkton. Glen died in 1978 and in 1991 Rena moved to the Cedars of Austin.
She was a member of Marshall Lutheran Church near Adams.

Survivors include her son, David (Margie) Henderson of DeSoto, Texas; daughters-in-law, Elena Henderson of Rochester and Harriet Henderson of Mission Viejo, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred (Dr. Carroll) Bellis of Palos Verde, Calif. and Ruth Himes of Stewartville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; daughter, Arlene Ostedt; two sons, Roger Henderson and Richard Henderson; siblings, Frankie Dormady, Clarence Dormady, Herb Dormady, Ed Dormady, Ruby Caulfield and Gordon Dormady.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2004, at Marshall Lutheran Church with the Rev. Shari Mason officiating. Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Worlein Funeral Home of Austin and one hour before the service at the church Saturday. Interment will be at Dexter Cemetery.
