He was retired from the Seaboard Coastline Railroad where he was employed for 51 years, a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 14 and the Jahnke Road Baptist Church. He was a resident of the Masonic Home of Virginia for the past ten years.
Survivors include his son Albert Arnold Cottom Jr.; niece, Carol Cottom Browder; nephew, Gordon W. Cottom; and a loving and devoted friend, Virginia Gammon.
