Son of Josiah Willard Kingsbury and Mary Eliza Townsend, Marshall was a descendant of Early New England Settlers who migrated from Massachusett>Connecticut>New York>Michigan.

Name: Marshall Zachery Kingsbury converted from Presbysterian to Catholicism under the name Theophilus M. Z. Kingsbury on 23 December 1883 at Ste-Anne Catholic Church in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan. He was thence aka Marshall Theophilus (or Marshall T.) Kingsbury.

Marshall Theophilus Kingsbury married 1) Julia Marie Lawson on 25 February 1884 at Ste-Anne Catholic Church in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan. Julia Lawson was a descendant of Early French Canadian Families and First Settlers of Detroit and a Catholic. Julia died on 8 Jan 1900 and was buried at Mt. Elliott Cemetery in Detroit. Marshall and Julia had 4 children together the last born in 1893. They had apparently separated before Julia's death as her sister was in charge of her funeral and no mention is made of Marshall in her obit. The children were apparently sent to live with their father in Toledo.

Marshall had a relationship with Ellen (unknown). It appears that they had two children together (b. 1898 & 1899 in Ohio) but it is not conclusive that they were his biological children but what is conclusive is they are living together as a family with Marshall's 4 children from his 1st marriage in Toledo, Ohio on 1900 Census and the children had his surname.

Little is known about Ellen, if she and Marshall were married or if the 2 children (Gertrude A and Mello) were his biological children. We do know the two children were not the children of Julia as her 1900 death record states she was the mother of 4 children-4 living. The children were not the biological children of Margaret Klotz either as she is living with her siblings in 1900 Monroe Co., Michigan and listed as single with no children born to her. Marshall is listed in the 1903 Toledo City Directory. The two children are listed in the 1904 Death Records of Detroit, as having died there in Feb 1904 of diphtheria so he was back in Detroit at that time. Additionally it appears that a relationship had began with Margaret Klotz by 1904 as she is listed as the mother on the children's death certificate in which their father is listed as T M Z Kingsbury and Mother as Margaret Kotz.

Marshall m2) Margaret M. Klotz. Margaret is buried next to Marshall Kingsbury. Marshall and Margaret had two sons. So it would appear that Marshall was the father of at least 8 children with whom he gave his Kingsbury name.
