Obituary for Ruby Pearl Weeks Nichols Huckaby

Ruby Pearl Nichols Huckaby, 87, passed away May 24, 2013. She was born June 30, 1925 in Vernon, Florida to the late Collis Robert and Mae Elizabeth White Weeks. She lived most of her adult life in Clarksville, Florida; Columbus, Georgia, and the last 10 years in Monticello before moving in this year with her son and daughter-in-law in Tallahassee.
Mrs. Huckaby deeply loved her family and Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. She was a member of Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church in Monticello. She had been an active member and matron of the Order of the Eastern Star while living in Columbus, Georgia. She loved flowers and had been an avid gardener. She and her late husband, Chester, a Pastor, were involved in many ministries in Georgia and Alabama. Prior to her retirement, Ruby was a lunchroom manager for school systems in Florida and Alabama.
Mrs. Huckaby was predeceased by her first husband of 35 years, Charlie Nichols; daughter, Glenda Sue Nichols; her second husband, Chester Huckaby, Sr., of 28 years; son-in-law, James Smith; her first born grandson, Jeffrey Davis; her sister Mae Inez Weeks ?; her brother, Collis Roland Weeks; and her sister, Alice Hazel Weeks Holt.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Ann Nichols Davis Smith, and son, Charles Nichols (wife, Cinda) all of Tallahassee; grandchildren, Lisa Davis Ross, April Nichols, Crystal Nichols Brown & Christopher Nichols; brother in-law, Preston Holt, Jr. and sister-in-law Edna Pearl Fortner Weeks both of Blakely, GA; five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Thanks go out to all the fine ladies that provided care for her in the last few years. A special thanks with love and appreciation to Tish and Crista who always went above and beyond.
The service for Mrs. Huckaby will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Baptist Church (2351 Mahan Dr Tallahassee, FL 32308). Visitation will be held for Mrs. Huckaby one hour prior to her service.
