Collis Weeks, as most people knew him, Pa Weeks as I knew him, was a farmer. He was born to a long line of Weeks', farmers, from Dale, Geneva, and Coffee counties in Alabama as far back as when Coffee County wasn't Coffee County but was Dale County. That was in the early 1800's. His parents were George Mordicai Jackson "M. J." "Jake" and Nancy Ellen Messer Weeks Bass. There is a bit of a discrepancy with his date of birth. His tombstone as well as the SSDI states his birth on 21 Nov 1900, however, according to the 1900 US Census for Alabama, Coffee, Precinct 7 Peacock, page 618, on 14 Jun 1900 the day of Census, he is shown to have been born in Dec 1899 and was just 5 months old.

He married Elizabeth Mae White from Washington County Florida in 1920 who was born to a long line of Whites, farmers, in Washington County. They moved to Florida from Georgia in the early 1870's. Granny Weeks once told me she met Pa Weeks in Alabama while staying with an Aunt in Coffee County.

Collis (Pa Weeks) and Mae (Granny Weeks) had four children. They are May Inez Weeks ?, Ruby Pearl Weeks Nichols Huckaby, Collis Roland Weeks, and Alice Hazel Weeks Holt. They have all gone on to be with their parents now and may they all rejoice and have a great reunion. We shall remember them and cherish the memories of them in our hearts.
