K. A. Roadman, Margaretville telephone executive, dies
MARGARETVILLE - Keene A. Roadman, 55, president of the Margaretville Telephone Co. died Monday morning, June 24, in the Margaretville Memorial Hospital. He lived on Kingston Rd., Margaretville.

Mr. Roadman was active in community affairs serving on a number of boards of civic and business organizations.

He was born in Eldora, Iowa on August 21, 1918 the son of Dr. Earl and Irma (Keene) Roadman.

He graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, and later attended American University in Washington, D.C. and Syracuse University.

He married Dawn Birdsall, daughter of the past president of the Margaretville Telephone Co.

He served in the army during World War II, being discharged in 1946.

Survivors include his mother, his wife, a son, Larry Scott Roadman of Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Karen Dawn of Palo Alto, Calif, who is attending college; a brother, Dr. Charles Roadman, Devine, Texas; four sisters, Mrs. William (Earline) Bryan, Los Fresnos, Texas; Mrs. Arthur (Pauline) Fishbeck. Manitowoc, Wis.; Mrs. Jene (Joyce) Scott, Sioux City, Iowa; Mrs. Katherine McLaughlin, Omaha, Neb.

He was a member of the Margaretville Presbyterian Church, National Defense Executive Reserve, director of the Margaretville branch of the National Bank and Trust Co. of Norwich; past director and member of the Chamber of Commerce, member of the Margaretville Rotary Club, director of the Margaretville Memorial Hospital, director of the Morningside College, director of the Middleburgh Telephone Co., member of the Masonic Order 389 F.& A.M., a Shriner of Boumi Temple of Baltimore, Md.

The family will receive friends at their residents on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.

Friends may call at the Herrick Funeral Home at their convenience on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The family will be in attendance at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

Graveside services will be conducted in the Margaretville Cemetery on Thursday, June 27 at 7:30 a.m. for family and friends. A memorial service will be held at the Margaretville United Presbyterian Church at 1 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. William Barter, pastor, conducting the service. The public is invited.
